The Merc with the Mouth: Deadpool review

I’ve been waiting for this one for quite some time and the best thing is Martin came home on Saturday and we watched it the day after. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s day, so it was the perfect date night 🙂

I was expecting a game changer, a movie that would add flavor to the superhero genre and it delivered big time. Lots of fourth-wall breaks, awesome soundtrack, gruesome fight scenes, I don’t know how many mentions of the F-word and truly hilarious moments, there’s tons of cool things in the movie.

Basically, it’s a superhero origin story where we follow Wade Wilson, the irreverent mercenary who becomes the still irreverent super-powered anti-hero. His goal is to find the man who tortured him and transformed him into Deadpool (Francis, aka Ajax). But he doesn’t want to kill him… right away, as he wants Ajax to cure the mutant side effects.

We get plenty of opportunities to laugh at practically anything Wade’s smartass mouth comes with. Don’t expect some big twist: guy fights bad guy, guy gets the girl… but not before killing so many people he can spell out the bad guy’s name with their corpses. One word – awesome.

I also loved all the complimentary things that came with the movie – trailers, teasers, posters, etc. Just check out some of my favorites:
