Bulgarian graffiti from A to Z: part 3

Today I’ll continue with the Alphabet pieces included in the Bulgarian graffiti from A to Z exhibition that will be on till 22.11.

And here are some interesting facts about the Bulgarian language:

1. Bulgarian belongs to the Slavic branch of the Indo-European languages. It is spoken by more than 9.2 million people around the world. Bulgarian language has 3 standardized norms: Bulgarian (official in Bulgaria, using Cyrillic alphabet), Macedonian (official in FYROM, using Cyrillic alphabet) and Banat (spoken by the Banat Bulgarians in the Banat region, in Romania and Serbia, using Latin alphabet).

2. With the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union on 1 January 2007, the Cyrillic script became the third official script of the European Union, following the Latin and Greek scripts.

3. Bulgarian language is the first written Slavic language with its own scripts – Glagolitic alphabet and Cyrillic alphabet. Glagolitic alphabet were invented by Saints Cyril and Methodius.

4. In AD 886, the Bulgarian Empire introduced the Glagolitic alphabet, devised by Saints Cyril and Methodius in the 850s. The Glagolitic alphabet was gradually superseded in later centuries by the Cyrillic script, developed around the Preslav Literary School, Bulgaria at the beginning of the 10th century.
5. And one funny fact: The word такова (takova) is a universal word, usable in place of any other word in Bulgarian language. It is used when the speaker can not think of a better word 🙂

Bulgarian graffiti from A to Z: part 2

I had so much work yesterday that I couldn’t post the next part of the exhibition. And after that I had to move with Churchill to my parent’ as we won’t have a lift for the next 8 days and he shouldn’t be taking the stairs. So I hope you can forgive me the one day delay. These are the next amazing pieces/letters:

Bulgarian graffiti from A to Z: part 1

No matter that I’ve been down with a cold for the past 4 days, yesterday I got up from bed and went to check the opening of this great graffiti exhibition. I just had to see all this talent in one place. It will be on till 22.11 on the second floor of Mall of Sofia. So if you have the opportunity, go and check it out. I’ll post all amazing pieces this week so stay tuned. wpid-wp-1447066387226.jpeg

Friday finds

One more week is gone and it’s time share what the I’ve found on and off the Internet that is worth sharing.

First stop is this the amazing London based artist Sarah from House of Ismay, who makes brooches from the pages of worn out books, damaged maps and unwanted scraps of MDF and wood.

Check it out here: http://www.houseofismay.com/

My other find is this great looking recipe for a no-bake chocolate cake, which I’d like to try ASAP, so I hope I’ll share my take on it next week:

And the last one is a cool band named Para Planner that me and my friend happened to watch on Halloween. For those of you that don’t live in Bulgaria, too sad ’cause you’ll only be able to see them on youtube. For those of you that are lucky, you can check them in Sofia, I think they have roughly one performance a week.

Here is their youtube channel :

And here is one of my favorites:

Halloween make-up

Halloween is not a Bulgarian holiday but for the past few years it’s getting more and more popular. I have to admit, I’ve dressed up a few times and I really enjoyed it. So this year when there was an announcement there will be a Halloween Friday in the office I decided I want to try something cool. It’s a good thing that one of my best friends is a movie make-up artist and she was nice enough to lend me some of her make-up. I also used this amazing tutorial by AndreasChoice and I think it worked perfectly. Best thing was it took me around 20 minutes, I had a lot of fun and I removed it for 5 minutes before going out Friday night. I didn’t want to scare the people 🙂

New tattoo

I’ve been meaning to get a new tattoo for a while and I wanted it to be behind my ear. At first I wanted something else there and because my initial idea will look better if it’s bigger I had to figure out something new for that spot. And when my best friend told me last week that she had the impulsive decision to get a new tattoo and  she had booked an appointment, my thought was – we can go together, that would be perfect! I started looking through minimalist designs and this was my absolute favorite. It’s totally me and I hope you like it. Thanks a lot to Momchil from Anonymous Tattoo and I hope I will be able to share more in a few weeks 🙂

Star Wars – the nerd in me awakens

In the wake of the release of Episode VII of the Star Wars saga – The force awakens, it’s perfectly normal to be obsessed with everything Star Wars-y. The last two weeks I’ve been watching the old movies and this trailer was released just in time for the nerd in me to explode with excitement. And the best thing is that I got tickets for me and my folks to see the movie at the premiere on the 18th December!

About the trailer – it looks epic. The new characters that weren’t in the teasers seem awesome and the fact that we see the bad guy in full is great. He looks super cool! And I love that there’s a possibility Luke to have gone all Darth Vader, so can’t wait for December. Oh, and one more thing, I really enjoyed the new vibe in the music, nice touch.

In addition, as it’s Friday and I try to share some interesting thing I’ve found on the Internet during the week, I think it’s only fair to share cool things related to Star Wars:

Fall checklist: the shoes

As you may know, I’m a big sucker for shoes. Some people (Martin) may even call me an addict. I have more that 50 pairs..yeah, I know, and I can buy shoes every day. But I try to control myself as best I can. Keeping that in mind, this season is one of my favorite one as I can put on all kinds of shoes. I can wear flats with almost everything and I can combine converse sneakers either with a moto jacket, a parka or a coat. If I want to be a little more fancy, I go for wedge boots or high heels. And I can’t survive my walks with Churchill without my rubber boots. Fall checklist: shoes

Fall checklist: the scarf

The next fall essential on my list is the scarf. Big, small, infinity, woolen, textile, monochromatic, colourful, with stripes, with fringe…I love them all. It’s one of my favorite accessories, especially for this season. And if you have a sensitive neck like me, the scarf is simply a must. You can pair it with shirts, t-shirts, tops and dresses and you’ll always look good and stay warm at the same time. Fall checklist: the scarf

Fall checklist: the moto jacket

As the weather is getting colder in this part of the world, I, and I guess most people, start bundling up and craving more warm nights on the couch. I try to stay on trend, but there are a few essentials I’ve discovered work for every fall that comes and goes. I tend to share them every day of this week, so stay tuned.

#1 The jacket

Fall can be tricky – cold in the mornings and warm during the day, so I always wear a jacket. I have a few faux leather and denim ones, so I suggest you get at least one. If you go with the moto style, you can always try something like this:
