My movies of 2012 Part 2

As promised these are the movies from 2012 that I didn’t manage but would love to watch.

Best to see

Life of Pi

I saw the trailer 4 or 5 months ago and I was captured by the beauty of it. I have very high expectations about this one, so I hope I won’t be disappointed.

Amour

amour

I haven’t seen a touching and thought-provoking movie in a while so I’m betting on Michael Haneke.

Moonrise Kingdom

moonrise kingdom

This seems to be just the quirky, filled with great performances kind of film I like.

Argo

argo

A good true story can win me over in a heartbeat. Moreover, I’ve missed Ben Affleck’s approachable characters, so this is a promising one.

Skyfall

skyfall

They say it’s one of the best 007 movies, so I simply can’t ignore it.

Ted

I’ve seen the trailer countless times and it always cracks me up. “F**k you thunder, you can suck my d**k!”. I don’t know how I haven’t seen it yet!

Prometheus

Prometheus

I’ve heard very different opinions on that one. It appears it’s a “love it or hate it” situation. However, the Alien movies are my favorite mix of sci-fi and horror and the genius designs of H. R. Giger still impress me, so I have to give it a chance.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

the perks

This seems like  “Not your typical teenage angst story” and I’d love to see Emma Watson outside the Harry Potter series.

Lincoln

lincoln

Lincoln and Daniel Day-Lewis. Enough said!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

the hobbit

I have mixed feelings about The Hobbit. I’m excited and yet terrified it will be a flop.  All I can do is wait and see, I guess.

Silver Linings Playbook

silver linings

Jennifer Lawrance keeps growing on me. This movie looks like the next step in her very promising career. Furthermore, I can’t wait to see De Niro in a decent role.

Cloud Atlas

I expect to see so many things from this one: drama, mystery, violence, sex, adventure, comedy, sci-fi, romance … It’s 6 movies for the price of one! What more can a movie geek ask for 🙂

Seven Psychopaths

seven psycos

The Tarantino feel and great cast had me on the first 10 seconds of the trailer.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

the best exotic

A feel good film can always work on a gloomy weekday evening. And the cast and locations look pretty awesome to me.

De rouille et d’os

rust and bone

A film about emotional and physical disability, that doesn’t suffer from exaggerated sentimentality is a rare case. I believe this has the potential to be one.

Rise of the guardians

And what will be my list without a fun, exciting and clever looking animated movie. The idea of the tattooed Santa with Russian accent seems so cool that I can’t resist this one.

I’m sure I forgot some great movies and didn’t put them on the list but I hope you’ll be kind enough to remind me of them 🙂

    • I think this will be the first one to see. I desperately need one evening staying home with a movie like this. Have you seen some of the others? Or can you think of something else to recommend? I can use your wise opinion 🙂

      • I want to read the book The Life of Pi before I see the film. Don’y ask why, i don’t know myself.. I thought that Prometheus was okay as long as you did not think too hard about it. I have seen the trailers for Silver Lining and i think it will be very good. The film that i enjoyed more than many others last year was Hanna, I thought it was brilliant, scores a 6.9 on IMDB though. Have you seen Paul? I nearly laughed myself to death on that film. I have watched it about five time and still find it really funny 🙂

      • I don’t need to ask why you want to read the book first. I know what you mean. I’m buying it this week for the same reason 🙂
I liked Hanna too. It had that strange “not your common action movie” vibe. And Saoirse Ronan was very good in it.
Haven’t seen Paul yet, but Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are my favorite British comedy tandem. It’s going on the list!

      • I have watched most of the pegg movies now, pick your favourite, multiply by four and you have Paul it is hilarious, unless you are non-darwinian religious anyway..

      • They are equally as good, however Paul does have that element of science fiction which could be the winner 🙂

      • It’s a dreadful feeling. Especially in the morning. I’m still used to going to bed after 1 and when my alarm goes off I want to scream. Or at least break something non-expensive 🙂

    • I know what you mean. As I was doing the list I couldn’t believe how many great titles I have disregarded or simply forgotten. Shame on us 🙂 Hope we both like the Life of Pi as it looks amazing judging by the trailers and everyone’s reviews.

      • I like Ang Lee. I am happy he did not choose another hollywood sweetheart to make this movie. Some unknown actors pursue talents, but they are not recognized. I like the photography and scenes of this movie. I am sure it is worth.

      • I like him too. He has a delightful and non-Hollywood vision. And picking untrained actors can be risky but it can totally pay off. But first I’ll read the book and then see for myself how well has Lee done it.

    • Thanks! I watched the Marigold hotel last Friday and it was very good. I still have to see the others and I’ll review them. Hope Life of Pi is as good as it looks. We sould exchange opinions when we see it 🙂
